Extra Limecrete: tadelakt microcement for finishing and preparation

The incredibly adaptable tadelakt microcement Limecrete EXTRA provides the choice to be utilized for both application preparation and completion. This two-component lime-based coating, which is intended to cover walls and floors, may be used both indoors and outdoors because it makes surfaces more stable and uniform. In terms of aesthetics, it enables exposed concrete finishes by either opening or sealing the pore, depending on whether it is evaluated or not. When used during the completion phase, its coarse granulometry enables the creation of rustic finishes.

Both indoors and outdoors, more natural finishes can be achieved using a bicomponent lime-based microcement that has a finer granulometry than Limecrete EXTRA. It can be used both before and after the application process is finished, improving the stability and longevity of the surfaces when coating walls or floors. This tadelakt microcement produces stony and rustic finishes when applied as a finishing coating.

The toughness of this tadelakt microcement finish makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use on both horizontal and vertical surfaces. Its two constituent parts, which are based on lime, endure the test of time without ever breaking or splitting. It gives the applied areas a high level of resistance, which improves preservation over an extended period of time. Its composition, grain size, and workability allow Limecrete MEDIUM to create a wide range of visually appealing and fascinating textures and effects that are, most importantly, incredibly natural.

Limecrete THIN: walls finished with tadelakt microcement

Despite being composed of fine grains, this coating, which has the finest aggregate in the Limecrete line, has exceptional resistance on walls and other non-walkable surfaces. This tadelakt microcement exudes sophistication and elegance. Its 0.1 mm is more than sufficient to produce distinctive textures and stucco finishes in an easy-to-use manner that will endure forever.

What makes Limecrete tadelakt microcement the best option?

Limecrete is a decorative coating that may create surfaces with distinct subtleties and textures by applying it in the most environmentally friendly manner possible. It adds a touch of naturalness and elegance to any space, but it also has a number of benefits that we go over below. It also acts like one of the most resilient microcements available.

Because it is a substance that does not develop cracks or crevices, limecrete eliminates the need for expansion joints, making it a covering that can create an infinite number of surfaces that are brighter, wider, and more beautiful.

With such flexibility, you can achieve the desired finishes, which is a huge benefit over conventional coatings.

Limecrete exhibits remarkable versatility as a decorative coating. Therefore, it may be used and completely fits into existing supports whether it is made of drywall, concrete, cement, ceramic, cardboard, or plaster.

Limecrete provides a vast array of textures and effects that can be reviewed. Thus, matte, satin, and gloss are some of the possible finishes for the exposed concrete or tadelakt effects.

Because it can be applied using methods that would be unimaginable for other materials, its coating is ornamental. Therefore, the “wet on wet” technique can be used to produce the desired effects.

Because of its inherent resistances and additional hardness, limecrete is a tadelakt microcement that has excellent ornamental properties and may be used both indoors and outdoors on both walkable and non-walkable surfaces.

Limecrete, which is based on lime, has excellent antibacterial qualities that maintain the highest level of hygiene on any surface. Additionally, because dirt and stains do not adhere, cleaning is a breeze.

The endless aesthetic possibilities of the continuous coating

A decorative coating called limecrete was developed so that it could be applied in an endless variety of finishes. Therefore, we draw inspiration from the Moroccan decorative trend that was applied to the walls of opulent riads and the items, like vases, that adorned these authentic Moroccan structures.

At Luxury Concrete, we have updated this material while honoring tradition, allowing its effects to be tailored to any decorative style, including those that were popular a while back and those that are popular now.

In this sense, this tadelakt microcement, which is distinguished by its ability to achieve effects and subtleties that are exclusive to it, like exposed concrete or tadelakt, can be combined with a variety of decorative styles, including Nordic, rustic, classic, and vintage.

Because our coating is based on this ancestral material that originated in Morocco 2,000 years ago, walls and floors coated with Limecrete have all of these qualities: smoothness, naturalness, tradition, warmth, elegance, and artisanal appearance.

Additionally, limecrete enables the creation of visual effects similar to those of concrete, a material that, when left visible, is frequently used as an aesthetic feature in industrial settings. Therefore, this coating can be used to give rooms a look that goes extremely well with minimalist or industrial decorating styles.

Limecrete enables the “fresh on fresh” method of application to provide the maximum degree of personalization on any surface. Therefore, there will be no need to wait for the preceding layer to fully dry before applying the last one, allowing it to absorb all of the decorative details that are always included in the latter layer.

The highest technical performance tadelakt microcement

Limecrete is a microcement that promises outstanding results beyond only aesthetics. Large quantities of material are not required to get the desired effects with this coating.

Naturally, the support that will be coated must be considered when applying it, as this will determine the performance, among other factors. The behavior of the various Limecrete products in a typical application will next be examined:

  • LIMECRETE EXTRA – (Two hands): 2 kg/m²
  • LIMECRETE BASIC – (Two hands): 1.4 kg/m²
  • LIMECRETE MEDIUM – (Two hands): 1 kg/m²
  • LIMECRETE THIN – (Two hands): 0.5 kg/m²

How to use tadelakt microcement for limecrete on floors

For the application to be successful, it is first required to remove any dirt or grease from the surface and fix any cracks or other abnormalities.
The support must be primed, always using the appropriate primer based on the support, in order to improve the microcement’s adhesion.
Before Limecrete is applied, a fiber mesh must be used to prevent cracks and fissures.
(Refer to the technical sheet for proportions.) This stage involves pouring the resin into a container, adding the pigment, and stirring until the mixture is homogenous. After the finish is uniform, add the limecrete mortar and stir at low speeds for four minutes.
Using a metal trowel, apply two coatings of Limecrete EXTRA or BASIC, letting them dry for four hours in between. Next, use 40 grit sand. Because it will determine the ultimate finish, this phase is crucial.
A layer of Limecrete MEDIUM, EXTRA, or BASIC tadelakt microcement must be put to get the desired finish. After four hours, this coat will be allowed to cure before being sanded with 40 grain.

It needs to be sealed when the last layer of limecrete has been put on. 24 to 48 hours after the initial application, the sealer will be applied. The following will be the process: Prior to applying the Concrete Finish WT varnish, two coats of Primacrete Finish will be applied, with a 4-hour interval between coats. The drying period between coats will be 8 to 24 hours.

How to coat walls with Limecrete Tadelakt Microcement

The wall should be cleaned or repaired to provide a consistent, consolidated structure for the application of limecrete.
Considering the material properties of the wall you wish to cover, use the adhesion promoter that works best for it.
Blend the pigment and resin until a uniform finish is obtained. After that, add the Limecrete microcement and stir for four minutes at low rotations.
Apply two levels of Limecrete EXTRA or Limecrete BASIC using a metal trowel, and allow each layer to dry for four hours. Sand with 40 grain after the drying period.
Use one coat of EXTRA, BASIC, MEDIUM, or THIN tadelakt microcement to complete decorating and get the desired finish. Four hours are needed for drying in between coats. Sand every layer with 40 grain when it has dried.
A layer of Limecrete MEDIUM, EXTRA, or BASIC tadelakt microcement must be put to get the desired finish. After four hours, this coat will be allowed to cure before being sanded with 40 grain.
After applying the finishing layer, wait 24 to 48 hours before adding two coatings of Primacrete Finish. Let the two coatings sit for four hours. Next, apply two coats of varnish (Concrete Finish WT is our recommendation), allowing 8 to 24 hours for drying in between coats.

Frequently asked questions about tadelakt microcement

Tadelakt, a stucco effect coating made of different limes, guarantees results with a high degree of impermeability and naturalness. When the goal is to create warm, soft spaces, this handcrafted ornamental method is employed.
Tadelakt, a decorative style made by dying lime with natural pigments, first appeared some 2,000 years ago. Despite being a highly traditional resource that is applied by hand using a trowel, its formula has changed throughout time to combine marble powder and lime. Pebbles are used to polish the lime after it has been dyed with natural pigments.
Tadelakt was first employed as a decorative method to give hammam walls a unique touch and shield them from moisture two millennia ago in Morocco. Similarly, it was utilized to make decorative items like jars or vases or in riads because of its attractive features.

Its word, which meaning “to polish, massage,” is derived from the Arabic verb “dakala.”

One of the most popular stuccos in the industry for producing resistant surfaces with particular aesthetic effects is tadelakt microcement, which has a number of technical and aesthetic advantages. We will next go into detail about the most notable ones:

100% sustainable
Tadelakt is produced using environmentally friendly methods and natural materials that have no environmental impact. To lessen its environmental impact, this antiquated coating is still produced using conventional methods.

Great Waterproofing
This coating works best in areas where extremely high levels of ambient humidity are possible. Since it stops mold and other issues caused by humidity from growing, it is advised to use it in bathrooms and other areas where water vapor is prevalent.

Multiple finishes
Tadelakt uses a wide range of colors for its effects and subtleties in order to create spaces that are as suited to the tastes of its clients as possible and to produce the most customized finishes.

High durability
Because of its lime content, this coating makes it possible to build surfaces that are always in pristine condition and can withstand impacts and other hazards.

Applicative versatility
Because of its excellent constructive qualities, tadelakt microcement can be applied to any surface or area. Therefore, it can be used on both interior and outdoor walls and floors. For 2,000 years, this coating has shown its immense adaptability by being used on anything from furniture to facades.

To finish decorating and achieve the required finish, apply a single layer of EXTRA, BASIC, MEDIUM, or THIN tadelakt microcement. The drying time between applications is four hours. After drying, sand each layer with 40 grains.

Because Limecrete is built on lime, it barely shrinks, making it a very durable microcement with few cracks. Nevertheless, mesh is advised for the greatest outcomes, particularly for covering pavement surfaces.

A variety of adhesion enhancers are available at Luxury Concrete and can be used with Limecrete. For damp spaces, we advise using Primacrete ABS or Primacrete Plus along with our two-component epoxy system, Impoxy primer.

There are 34 hues in the Limecrete color chart, but as an example of how well it adapts to customer preferences, additional shades can be made with ease.

No, only walls can use the THIN grain size, whereas pavements and vertical surfaces can use the EXTRA, BASIC, and MEDIUM granulometries.

Yes, but it needs to be done carefully. Therefore, you can add resin without going above 2% if you wish to give it greater fluidity. It is advised to review the technical sheet, nevertheless.
